More disease resistant than P. edulis, this plant is frequently used as a rootstock for the purple passionfruit when grown commercially. The flowers are larger and have a dark purple center. Very sweetly scented. The fruit is more acidic and considered inferior to P. edulis. Does not tolerate heavy pruning. Must have a pollinator.
