Overview
Large species of Dutchman's pipe has very large, glossy, heavily veined leaves and the intriguing characteristic of setting flowers on the thickened bark of old wood. The flowers are pale yellow and dark red and very hairy in the funnel. Native to Central America, this is a large, tropical vine. It develops a thick truck covered by corky, furrowed bark. Excellent choice for a tropical garden. Host plant for Battas polydamus, the Gold-Rimmed Swallowtail.
